Okay, so maybe I downplayed
the wind. Today is windy. Just so you know.

I had to run out of town the other morning, so I neglected to post this: on Friday morning, we woke up to about 1/2 inch of snow!
Since then, mostly warm, clear, occasionally breezy.
Really! A brief thunderstorm last night, a few showers this afternoon, and now something a little more steady.
Cooler today, after last night’s rain too: highs were only in the 50s. There is, however, the expected grass springing up all over the place.
This year has really been a good one for precipitation so far. I hope it keeps going this way and we have regular rains all year. (That would be a first in my experience with New Mexico.)
Friday night into Saturday: 6/10ths of an inch of rain! Friday, Saturday, and so far today: not windy! Outside now: 55°, scattered clouds, 62% humidity. Very fine weather.
Well, yeah, the roads were slick yesterday morning. But, hey: no need to water just yet.
A red-wing blackbird was in our yard yesterday, the population of hummingbirds is increasing, the phoebes are checking out their condo, and Tibs is digging a tunnel to Mongolia in the currant bush’s flower bed. I’ll probably have to take some action on that last one. Oh, and the lettuce & chard starts were munched upon. So we know they were good!
The first hummingbird buzz was heard at our house last Thursday afternoon. Friday I saw the hummer streak by. Saturday we got the feeder up. We still only have one hummingbird, a male broad-tailed. And we’re back in the sugar-water business, just like that.
Lots of it, since Wednesday.
A very scientific and learned consideration at our house this evening concluded that New Mexico is so windy because our sky is so big, the air has to move around a lot to fill it.
On the other hand, our roads are all nicely dry now, so if you have been sending your wind our direction — well, you can keep it. Thanks much!
